Hiring: Experienced Front-end Developer (JavaScript)

DESCRIPTION

Disqus is hiring an experienced engineer to work on the front-end development across parts of Disqus.

  • This is a possible lead role depending on qualifications.
  • You will work with our small tech-heavy team where engineering is always king.
  • Fast-paced environment with the right balance of quick, iterative development versus more deliberate, smart architecting.
  • You will work with both the website application and the embedded scripts (widgets).
  • Design and implement features which will be used by millions of people on release.
  • You will help design and develop a templating language not unlike PHP or Django.
  • Develop heavily with raw JavaScript in the embedded scripts, which are the most trafficked part of Disqus.
  • Work heavily with cross-domain issues and take advantage of the newest web technologies (e.g. HTML5), or bend existing web technologies to accomplish new things.
  • Develop methods to improve performance across all combinations of browsers and platforms.
  • Responsible for writing clean, semantic HTML and CSS.

ABOUT YOU

  • JavaScript expert. You know the ins and outs of JavaScript and can develop very interesting things. Libraries such as jQuery and Prototype are fun to use, but you don’t need them.
  • Very experienced with common and obscure cross-browser and cross-domain issues, hacks, and solutions.
  • Know HTML and CSS very well. You know when to separate layout from style and logic.
  • Familiar with HTML templating systems such as Django, Cheetah, CakePHP.
  • Skilled with UI and UX design. Graphic/art design is not required but is a plus.
  • Understand user behavior and application flow. You make applications that are fun to use and leave people happy.
  • You are familiar and can work with Python and Django.
  • You don’t indiscriminately use XMLHTTPRequest every chance you get.
